In the wash
/There is a saying in weaving that “it isn’t finished until it is wet finished,” as it is wet finishing that integrates interlaced threads into cohesive cloth. Weaving is moving forward apace, and now curiosity has gotten the better of me.
I’ve wet finished a sample of my cloth by soaking in hot water with green soap, then working the cloth on my washboard. There is some difference between the section with handspun weft and the one using commercially spun weft. However, both have fulled nicely, and should give good cloth for hoods.
(PS- don’t worry about the uneven selvedges... there’s more being experimented on than just weft!)
