It's the little things

I am a reenactor and amateur historian.  I work in a number of fiber arts and dabble in many other mediums.  I live on the land I research.  So what?  All of these different approaches add a dimension to my understanding;  They color the way I interpret new information, be it a first-hand account in a medieval manuscript, an archaeological find or a living handcraft tradition.

The purpose of Thrums, threads and thoughts for Thora is to give me a space to explore my process of learning history.  As I work through new projects or read new-to-me research, I stumble across little details or wonder about the whys and wherefores.  As part of that process, I employ a fictional character, Thora, as the red thread focusing my research and practical experiments.

I make no claims to being a great expert or artisan.  This is my process of weaving historical and archaeological information with hands-on exploration. Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and even challenge me.  The devil is in the details, and there is so much to learn!
